A combination of its gorgeous climate and stunning scenery, Sonoma Wine Country is one of the most luxurious Northern California locations. Our breathtaking area is composed of four distinctive winery valleys: the Sonoma Valley, the Alexander Valley, the Russian River Valley, and the Dry Creek Valley. The latter three intersect in the beloved Healdsburg, CA. Our gorgeous town remains the ideal destination for touring wineries and delighting in tasting rooms. If you’re looking for the exceptional blends in the nation, the wineries in Healdsburg are the place to go. While you’re visiting, stay with us at Honor Mansion, one of the best Healdsburg hotels (though we may be biased).
Surrounded by fantastic vineyards, we know a thing or two about planning a wine country vacation. Request a copy of the complimentary Healdsburg Travel Guide for an itinerary of the best Healdsburg wineries!

If you’re craving a refreshing glass of white wine, Sonoma Wine Country is the place for you. Chardonnay is the most abundant varietal in our region with over 17,000 vineyard acres. Sauvignon Blanc boasts the second most planted white grape at 2,700 acres. Many annual Sonoma County wine events celebrate exquisite vino, but a visit to wineries in Healdsburg will give you the opportunity to experience your favorite whites or reds any time of year.
This 25-year-old label boasts a large variety of wines, one of which is the world-renowned Sauvignon Blanc. This varietal is vibrant with a tinge of green. Aromas are of peach, nectarine, mango, and pink grapefruit peel, and the flavors are a mix of stone fruit, tangerine zest, and guava for a refreshing taste. Hanna Winery has two Healdsburg tasting rooms for guests to enjoy.
Since the 1800s, Seghesio Family Vineyards in Healdsburg, CA, have specialized in Sonoma County Zinfandel and Italian wines, each of which are made from estate-owned and farmed vineyards. Pinot Grigio, Arneis, and Vermentino are all traditional Italian white blends. This remains true because Sonoma’s topography and climate mimic that of Northern Italy, which allows these three well-suited grapes to flourish in the Russian River Valley, making it one of the best wineries near Healdsburg.
Also located in the Russian River Valley is the Simi Winery and known for its 105 acres of Chardonnay grapes. A collection of Chardonnay rootstocks, field selections, and clones have been taken from some of the best and oldest vineyards in California, and the vineyard’s Goldridge and Huichica soils provide superb drainage. This warm region of the Russian River Valley allows the grapes to ripen fully and develop rich flavor.
At Williamson Wines, the intimate tasting room provides you with the unique opportunity to enjoy free wine tastings in Healdsburg while also learning about the science behind pairing foods with each blend. The Fridge Foods & Fine Wines experience offers two of their top whites paired with bite-sized delights (cheese, crackers, jams, and mustards) to showcase how wines accentuate and complement food flavors.
A collection of boutique wineries in Healdsburg offers you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to taste exceptional vino and delectable cuisine, as well as learn about the winemaking process. There is a never-ending list of Healdsburg wineries, including Ferrari-Carano Vineyard. Here are even more wineries to visit, which we’ve curated according to their wine-growing valley. Visiting wineries in Santa Rosa is also one of the best things to do in Santa Rosa, California.
The wineries of the Alexander Valley AVA maintain the warmest temperature of the three winery valleys. Due to the climate, some of the most renowned Cabernet Sauvignon in the world hail from this region. You’ll discover well-known names such as Silver Oak, historic family wineries like Robert Young Estate, and hidden gems such as Garden Creek. Enjoy any of these delightful Alexander Valley wineries to make your visit to Healdsburg truly unforgettable.
While you’re visiting Sonoma Wine Country, a trip to the collection of breathtaking Dry Creek Valley wineries is a must. Sample some of the most wonderful Zinfandels in the country, as well as a variety of other Dry Creek wines. The smallest of the wine valleys, Dry Creek boasts an array of vineyards and wineries. It’s one of our favorite places to go for tours, picnics, and Healdsburg wine tastings.
The largest of the valleys, the Russian River Valley is closer to the Pacific and maintains a cooler temperature year-round. These conditions are optimal for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In addition to the charming Russian River Valley wineries, there’s an assortment of other captivating things to do. Spend your time on a leisurely stroll, kayaking or canoeing the Russian River, or hiking the trails of Armstrong Redwood State Park. It’s a blank canvas for your next adventures!
