If there is one spring event in Healdsburg that you don’t want to miss, that event is Pigs & Pinot. Now in its 12th annual year, this two-day wine and food festival offers a variety of intimate dining and educational events hosted by esteemed Chef Charlie Palmer. According to the event website, a cast of Master Sommeliers and international celebrity chefs team up with leading Pinot Noir-producing winemakers to “showcase some of the world’s greatest Pinots Noirs with perfect pork pairings.” And, when you attend Pigs & Pinot, you’ll get to experience those pairings for yourself!
Attending Pigs & Pinot is just one great thing to do on a Sonoma wine country getaway. Find out more about the area by requesting a copy of our FREE Vacation Guide!
When you check out the Pigs & Pinot event calendar, you’ll quickly realize that deciding what to attend can be overwhelming! But, if you choose carefully, you can enjoy the best parts of the weekend.
The fun-filled weekend kicks off with Taste of Pigs & Pinot, and you don’t want to miss it! You will sample from 60 different Pinot Noir wines that are all in the running for the Pinot Cup competition. In addition, tastings of homemade sausages, charcuterie, grilled pork, patés and other special creations will also be readily available.
Saturday brings a variety of options for Pigs & Pinot guests. There are special seminars and showcase dinners that are simply divine! One of the seminars, The Tournament of the Pig, is an exciting Iron-Chef style competition. Two teams of chefs will be given a whole pig and the task of creating two distinct dishes for judging! For dinner, you can choose between a five-course gala dinner. The dishes served feature two limited-production Pinot Noirs from highly acclaimed wineries. Or, for a more local affair, you can attend the Swine & Wine dinner, which offers a multi-course menu and showcases two boutique Pinot Noir producers from Sonoma County.
When you attend Pigs and Pinot, you aren’t just indulging in sumptuous treats, you’re also helping an excellent cause! All of the net proceeds from Pigs & Pinot benefit the Share Our Strength No Kid Hungry campaign. In addition to benefiting this drive to end childhood hunger in the United States, Pigs & Pinot also provides funding for local Sonoma County scholarships and charities. Last year, a total of $200,000 was raised!
This year, Pigs & Pinot will be March 17-18. Mark your calendars and make plans to attend. Because of high demand and limited availability, tickets to the event almost always sell out. So, act quickly to reserve your place today!
