Movie buffs everywhere, mark your calendars! The 19th annual Sonoma International Film Festival will take place from March 30th through April 3rd, 2016, and will feature more than 90 hand-selected films of various genres, including independent features, documentaries, world cinema, and short films. In past years, industry leaders and world-renowned celebrities like Bruce Willis, Robin Williams, and Danny Glover have flocked to the beautiful community of Sonoma, California, to attend this magical five-day event. With so much to do and see, the Sonoma Valley Film Festival is the perfect way to spend a few hours, a day, or an entire weekend in wine country!
Whether you’re a lover of horror films, romantic comedies, or simply enjoy watching a great flick, the Sonoma Valley Film Festival truly has something for everyone. Plus, each of the films will be shown at various venues around Sonoma’s historic plaza, just a short one-hour drive from the Honor Mansion! Here’s what you’ll see at this year’s festival.
The Sonoma Valley Film Festival gives guests the unique opportunity to watch incredible films in a casual, intimate, and scenic setting. Many are hosted in gorgeous old Victorian homes or in quaint downtown cafes, so you can experience the true hometown ambiance of Sonoma around you. In between showings, you’ll get the chance to try delicious world-class cuisine from local restaurants, sample exceptional wine from Sonoma vintners, and browse various shops and boutiques in the area, all within walking distance. You may even get to meet the filmmakers and visionaries who produced your favorite flick along the way!
The Sonoma Valley Film Festival wouldn’t be possible without the philanthropic efforts of The Film Society. This group is comprised of generous individuals who strongly believe that the Film Festival plays an integral part of Sonoma’s community. Dedicated to promoting the art of independent film, supporting talented filmmakers, and inspiring movie lovers everywhere, this group donates and raises funds to financially support the festival, and also helps to support the Media Arts Program at Sonoma Valley High School. This program gives local students and aspiring filmmakers the unique chance to produce their own movies that will be screened at the festival and seen by thousands of attendees each year.
