Tara Bella Winery



Rich and I have been involved in winemaking for nearly 20 years, mostly in the Napa Valley. Rich’s roots run deep in the vineyards, where he has tended his own vines for even more years. In 1997 we moved to Sonoma County from the Napa Valley, where we owned a six acre vineyard and made wine for family and friends.

In 1995, Rich and I were fortunate to locate and secure 8 acres of virgin, undeveloped land, nestled in the beautiful foothills of Russian River Valley. The property was surrounded by lush vineyards owned or contracted by some of Sonoma’s and Napa’s finest wineries. What appeared too good to be true became our reality.

We have committed ourselves to building our Estate winery and vineyard. There are six acres of Cabernet Sauvignon planted and between the two of us, we do just about everything. Rich believes in making wine the “old fashioned” way, by hand pressing our grapes with our old Zambeli basket press. He also believes great wine is made in the vineyard. We think that that might be one of the reasons we’ve won 13 Gold Medals on the past vintages!

All of our vintages are aged in French oak for about 24 months, and then bottle aged for a few more. There’s no blending here: every bottle is 100% Estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon. We literally take it from the bud to the bottle. Rich and I hand number and hand wax every bottle. Our total production is around 300-500 cases.
